Department of Health Services

The District Health Office (DHO) oversees Community Health Assistants, Clinical Officers, Nurses and Environmental Health Technicians to deliver healthcare.

The functions are as follows:

Clinical Care:  

 Manages provision of clinical care services in order to ensure quality health services.

Public Health: 

 Oversees provision of Public health services in order to ensure quality health services.

Monitoring Evaluation:

  Oversees timely, monitoring and evaluation of planned activities in order to facilitate implementation of appropriate interventions.

Performance Management:

 Manages timely, development of work plans and operationalization of the annual performance system (APAS) in order to monitor, evaluate and enhance performance

Capacity Building: 

Oversees timely, the development and implementation of capacity building interventions in order to impart appropriate skills and knowledge

Management:

Manages effectively, the utilization of human, financial and materials resources in the district in order to ensure effective and efficient operations

Policy: 

Provide supervision and oversight on dissemination and interpretation of policies in order to ensure effective implementation and adherence to National Health Policies and guidelines in the district.

Planning and budgeting: 

Oversees timely, preparation and implementation of action plans/budgets in order to facilitate the attainment of set objectives and resource mobilization

Research:

Manages and coordinates regular QI/QA research in order to improve service delivery.
