
Mazabuka District is located in the Southern Province of Zambia along the Great North Road. It is about 125 km by road from Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia. It is about 360 km from Livingstone City, the tourist Capital of Zambia and about 160 km from the provincial capital, Choma.
According to the Central Statistical Office Report of the 2010 census, Mazabuka district had a total population of 171,063 people and an average annual growth rate of about 2.5 % as of the year 2010.The district currently has a total population of 224,448 with a growth rate of 1.2% per annum. The total population therefore is distributed as follows; 94,755 for the Urban area and 102,086 for the rural area.

FUNCTIONS
Maintain law and order and effective administration of Local Authorities to ensure national security;
Establish and maintain sanitation and drainage systems to facilitate the removal of refuse and effluent
Registration of marriages, births and deaths including solemnising of marriages.
Various trading licences are issued by the Council annually for those who conduct their various businesses in the City
