Mazabuka Municipal Council today hosted the Head of German Development Cooperation and the GIZ
CitiZen +D team for a vibrant and insightful engagement on our district’s development progress. The team first paid a courtesy call on the Mayor’s office and proceeded to a meeting which opened with an inspiring presentation by the Town Clerk, who shared a comprehensive overview of Mazabuka’s growth, key economic drivers, service delivery achievements, and emerging opportunities.
This was followed by the Director of Planning’s district presentation, highlighting spatial development, rapid urbanisation trends, the Ndeke Local Area Plan process, and the district’s push for climate resilient planning and inclusive settlement upgrading.
The Director of Finance later delivered an update on Mazabuka’s own source revenue performance from 2022 to date, underscoring improvements in local taxes, fees, licences and ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening municipal financial sustainability.
The session concluded with a joint presentation by the District Planning Officer and community representative, Bennie Mwiinga WDC Chairperson, who showcased the new CDF digital system developed by Mazabuka Municipal Council and Pemba Town Council with financial and technical support from GIZ.
The system represents a major step forward in enhancing transparency, citizen participation and efficient CDF management.
