Mazabuka, Zambia – Today, the Mazabuka Municipal Council convened a critical meeting with Asphalt Road Zambia to discuss ongoing concerns regarding the flooding of roads that are currently under construction. The meeting was chaired by His Worship the Mayor and included key participants such as the Town Clerk, Councillors from various wards, the Road Consultant, and representatives from Asphalt Road Zambia.
The primary focus of this meeting was to address the increasing worry among residents about flooding in several areas, including but not limited to Mazabuka Girls Road, Chachacha Road, and Zambia Compound. These discussions highlighted the urgent need for action to mitigate the adverse effects of anticipated flash floods this season.
Key resolutions emerged from the meeting, including a significant directive that Asphalt Road Zambia should halt any new construction activities. Instead, the contractor will redirect their efforts towards addressing the challenges in areas already under construction. This decision seeks to enhance safety measures and fortify the infrastructure, particularly in zones that have been hardest hit.
“Today’s meeting underscores our commitment to safeguarding our residents and improving infrastructure resilience,” said His Worship the Mayor. “We recognize the urgency of addressing these flooding concerns and are taking proactive steps to ensure the safety and well being of our community.”
The contractor agreed to take responsibility of the damaged roads and will repair them urgently to make them passable as this is provided for in the contract
The resolutions made during the meeting are aimed at minimizing damage to infrastructure and protecting the interests of the residents of Mazabuka Central Constituency. The council remains devoted to transparency and will continue to engage with the community on this pressing issue.
Mazabuka Municipal Council will keep the public informed of any further developments and initiatives aimed at improving the situation as we work closely with Asphalt Road Zambia.
