MAZABUKA MUNICIPAL COUNCIL BUDGET STANDS AT 175.2 MILLION FOR THE YEAR 2025

Mazabuka Municipal Council joined the rest of the Local Authorities in the ongoing 2025 National Budget hearing and 2024 Budget performance review meetings being held in several venues across the country simultaneously.

 

The Local Authority Team led by Mazabuka Town Clerk, Judith Mukwita Maambo at the Kabwe Urban Bliss Hotel engaged in discussions focused on their proposed budget estimates which stands at ZMW 175.2 million for 2025, this is aimed at enhancing service delivery and addressing the needs of our community.

 

In her submission, the Town Clerk emphasized the importance of the Local Government’s role in building sustainable and vibrant communities. The Local Authority’s proposed budget reflects the commitment to development through the improvement of infrastructure, healthcare, Agriculture, Education, and other essential services that directly impact the lives of Mazabuka residents through the expanded and increased Constituency development fund- CDF which now stands at K36.1 million per Constituency.

 

Additionally, the meeting which is being backstopped by Senior Officials from Ministry of Finance and National Planning and sponsored by USAID Local Impact Governance Project, highlighted the significance of the ongoing review of the Local Government Act No. 2 of 2019. This process is crucial for guiding the operations and governance of Local Authorities. The submissions from the participating Councils aims to ensure that it effectively addresses the legislative bottlenecks currently existing in the Act thereby promoting better governance and accountability to our citizens.

 

Furthermore, discussions also centered on the rollout of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Communication Strategy. This strategy is designed to enhance public awareness and engagement concerning the allocation and utilization of CDF funds .By fostering decentralization, transparency and community involvement, the aim is to aim to empower citizens and ensure that development initiatives align with local priorities.
