ZAMBIA SUGAR DONATES SUPPLIES TOWARD CHOLERA FIGHT

Zambia Sugar Plc has donated assorted supplies worth k1.6 million to the Mazabuka District Health Office and the Public Health Department under the Local Authority in a bid to eliminate cholera in the district.
The event was held at the Civic Centre and was attended by the Mazabuka District Commissioner Mr. Oliver Mulomba, the Mayor Mr. Vincent Lilanda, Senior Government Officials and other Stakeholders in the District.
Speaking during the Handover Ceremony, the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Garry Nkombo, who was guest of honour said he was happy that Zambia Sugar was supplementing Government’s efforts in the fight against the pandemic which has become a serious source of concern to many.
And speaking before making donations, Zambia Sugar Medical Services Manager, Dr. Charles Machila, stated that the donated items which included hand sanitizers, sugar, soaps, basins, soya pieces and chlorine among others are part of its commitment in partnering with Government in fighting against any life-threatening disease such as Cholera which has so far claimed four lives in the district.
Meanwhile, Mazabuka Town Clerk, Mrs. Judith Mukwita Mambo and the District Health Director, Dr. Stephen Shajanika, expressed gratitude to the company for having come on board by donating items that will preserve the lives of many.
And Southern Province Gender Division Principal Gender Officer, Mrs. Doreen Chingobe Kamakankala, donated a stove, fridge, cooking utensils, four bags of fertiliser, furniture and seed among other items on behalf of the government to three corporative in Mazabuka as a form of empowerment.
